The Coolest Thing Made In Kansas

August 24, 2021

Kansas-based bioplastics company is eligible for manufacturing award.

Green Dot Bioplastics, Inc. is throwing a plant-based, compostable plastic in the ring for the annual Coolest Thing Made in Kansas competition.

The Kansas Manufacturing Council’s (KMC) Coolest Thing Made In Kansas competition highlights the state’s manufacturing industry, which employs one out of 11 Kansas workers. Any product made in Kansas qualifies for the competition and anyone can nominate a Kansas-made product at KansasCool.com.

Products receiving the most nominations will be admitted into a bracket tournament and compete in weekly head-to-head matchups on the way to winning the ultimate prize — being named the 2021 Coolest Thing Made in Kansas.  Nominations begin in August, the winner will be announced at the Kansas Manufacturing Summit in early October.

What’s cool about Green Dot? We created the world’s first biodegradable elastomeric rubber, Terratek® Flex, and over the past decade we’ve developed a variety of other biocomposites and biodegradable resins to replace traditional plastics, including our line of rigid compostable plastics, Terratek® BD.

We use plant-based feedstocks, from materials produced here in Kansas to make compostable bioplastics that will biodegrade. Our products are a sustainable solution to our current plastic waste disaster and our manufacturing process has a positive impact on greenhouse gas emissions.

Located in the heart of the scenic Kansas Flint Hills, Green Dot’s mission to create a new generation of plastic has a global reach and supports a biobased economy.

“The Coolest Thing Made in Kansas competition is a fun way to spread the word about Green Dot’s innovative products made right here in Kansas, while also promoting manufacturing in Kansas as a whole,” Green Dot CEO Mark Remmert said. “We are proud to be part of the Kansas economy and look forward to learning more about other companies driving Kansas’ economic growth during the competition.”

Green Dot invites our customers and fans to nominate Green Dot’s Terratek® products for the 2021 Coolest Thing Made In Kansas competition at KansasCool.com.
