Maintenance Technician – Onaga, Kansas

A successful candidate will be proactive in improvement projects, multitasking, and refocusing to meet constantly shifting demands in a fast-paced environment.

The Maintenance Technician Responsibilities include:

  • Cross-training as a machine operator
    • Understand functionality of equipment.
  • Equipment:
    • Troubleshoot & Diagnose equipment failures, find root causes, and communicate required actions to the rest of the team.
    • Search, investigate, and recommend replacement parts.
    • Perform minor equipment repairs and rebuilds. Help install new equipment.
    • Handy-man type projects using hand tools.
    • Help clean equipment and create a cleaning schedule.
    • Manage, perform, & improve preventative maintenance & work order programs, includes coordinating annual services/inspections with outside vendors.
    • Support major capital, capacity, and improvement projects.
  • Computer/Other Work:
    • Organize spare parts, determine critical spares, and track consumables.
    • Investigate and implement countermeasures to prevent repetitive breakdowns.
    • Develop tool management program.
    • Follow and lead safety protocols, like LOTO.
  • Mindset:
    • Prioritize production/machine “uptime” and find solutions quickly.
    • “Can we fix it?” attitude, willing to try and repair with in-house solutions first.
    • Blend of individual work and team work.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-year degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience
    • Familiarity and willing to work with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and electronics
    • Familiarity with HMI/process controls
    • Familiarity with BOMs, drawings, and manuals
    • Welding experience is a bonus
    • Must be able to move around, bend over, crawl, climb steps, use tools, & lift 50 lbs
  • Detailed oriented
  • Positive attitude, can self-motivate when working alone
  • Good communicator through email and phone
  • Computer proficiency: Excel, email (CAD or programming experience is a bonus)
  • Willing to drive locally for various repairs or tools (valid driver’s license required)
  • Accommodate an occasional shift in schedule for specific repairs, typically done on Friday.

This is a full-time position offering a regular 4 day work week, Monday – Thursday. This position includes an excellent benefits package with potential for management and leadership opportunities. Quality Control Technician – Onaga, Kansas

Green Dot Bioplastics, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician for our Onaga, Kansas facility. The Quality Control Technician will be a key integral person between production and quality. The position is responsible for:

  • Day-to-day analysis of post-production materials
  • Developing procedures and methods to test and analyze new and existing products
  • Driving and supporting continuous process and quality improvements

This position is multi-faceted and involves training in other manufacturing/production roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting samples during production on all machines and maintain reference samples for post-production
  • Help develop proper procedures and documentation for a robust quality program
  • Perform QC tests daily on all finished goods and incoming raw materials. Tests and equipment include: Scale; Beaker; Densimeter; Moisture Analyzer; Sieve Shaker (measuring size distribution); Melt Flow Analyzer; Light Table & Magnifier; Colorimeter; Metal hoop; Muffle Furnace (measuring ash content)
  • Perform calibrations on necessary equipment
  • Record data and provide summary report for each production lot
  • Notify production when outside of quality specifications and provide ongoing quality feedback
  • Review all material SDS documents and Certificates of Analysis
  • Keep lab neat and clean equipment as needed
  • Collaborate with R&D/Sales for learning new metrics, QA, and additional testing equipment
  • Collaborate with Process Engineer for analysis of proper formulation of finished goods and normal machine operations
  • Collaborate with CTO & Safety team to develop good manufacturing practices, as related to food contact materials/equipment

Requirements:

A successful candidate must be well-organized and self-motivated, with a willingness to learn new skills. The candidate must be able to work with colleagues in other departments and possess strong attention to detail. Candidates will need to be adaptable and proactive in projects, with the ability to multitask and refocus to meet shifting demands in a fast-paced environment.

Physical:

  • 20/40 vision or better, corrected or uncorrected (please mention if colorblind)
  • Standing or moving most of the day
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

General:

  • Proficiency in math/statistics, Excel, and basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of units and conversions
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Follow all safety rules and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Prior QC experience (preferred)
  • Any post-high school education, including military, vocational training, or university (any preferred)

Plastics Engineer – Onaga, Kansas

This position is responsible for developing procedures and methods to manufacture new and existing products, driving and supporting continuous process and quality improvements at the company. This position will be involved with the day-to-day analysis of production information and will manage initiatives related to improvements, and increasing production throughout. This position will be involved in the implementation of new manufacturing equipment, capital and capacity expansions, and ensuring successful operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with production team to achieve process flow requirements and meet plant goals.
  • Support engineering team on successful implementation of new assets and processes: create operating procedures for new equipment, develop installation/qualification procedures, and determine maintenance schedules.
  • Create, regularly review, and/or update manufacturing procedures as needed.
  • Works closely with engineering team to create all work instructions, process flows, and layouts for all new and existing products assigned.
  • Manages special projects as assigned and participates in meetings as required.
  • Active support and participation in driving reliability initiatives through root cause analysis, idea generation, and small project execution.
  • Support and/or head major capital and capacity planning and expansion projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree required in Plastics Engineering, Plastics & Polymer Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.
  • 2-5 years of related experience, in a high-quality manufacturing environment preferred.

Manufacturing Technician – Onaga, Kansas

Green Dot is seeking an experienced manufacturing technician at its Onaga, Kansas facility. Qualified applicants will have experience in mechanical, electrical, and process control systems. Plastics processing experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a two-year degree in industrial engineering technology or similar and 2-5 years experience in a high-quality manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate all plant equipment used on the production floor including extrusion, material handling, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Work closely with other operators to complete daily production schedule.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, find root causes, and communicate required actions to the rest of the team.
  • Become an expert on all machines in assigned areas.
  • Perform minor equipment repairs and rebuilds.
  • Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, and improvement.
  • Investigate and implement countermeasures to prevent repetitive breakdowns.

Requirements:

  • Ability to learn relevant manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and electronics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with process controls, HMI’s preferred.
